Frost Resistant Seedlings from Finland

Frost resistant seedlings from Finland will be presented in “Crocus Expo” by nursery Puutarha Tahvoset Oy which specializes in growing and wholesale trade in ornamental and fruit trees and shrubs. The company has a 30-year experience in production and delivery of seedlings in containers.

A large part of Finish rhododendrons are also grown in the nursery Tahvonen.

This family business was founded in 1956 in the south of Finland in Pohyankuru Raasepori region. The fifth generation of the Tahvonens is engaged in growing of different plants.

The fields for production of ornamental, fruit trees and shrubs, perennial flowers, and strawberry seedlings occupy an area of 70 hectors.

Altogether the nursery product range includes over 600 species of plants. Daily the nursery supplies 800 000 plants in containers, and more than million varietal strawberry seedlings to shops and farmers of Finland.

We also grow large trees including conifers for landscape design. The nursery delivers its seedling not only to Finland but also to Sweden and Russia.

We focus on production of our own seedlings. Annually over million cuttings are cut off on the nursery’s plantations. To guaranty high quality we use cuttings of our own verietal trees. Besides a large part of seeds are collected in the nearby vicinity.

Apple trees both of old and entirely new varieties grow in the nursery’s apple orchard, which has an area of 4 ha. Here we collect apples and varieal cuttings for grafting, and also conduct observations.

Puutarha Tahvoset Oy nursery will present at the exhibition a unique collection of seedlings which will grow well even in the most northern Russian regions.
