Astana's Ecoparks and Green Infrastructure: New Opportunities for Flora Expo Astana & Grow Expo Astana 2026 Participants

12 February 2026

Today, Astana is actively preparing for one of the region's key industry events—the international exhibitions Flora Expo Astana & Grow Expo Astana 2026, to be held April 8–10, 2026, at the Expo International Exhibition Center. Over 200 exhibitors from various countries are expected, along with more than 6,000 professional visitors.

The venue will feature producers and suppliers of flowers, plants, trees and shrubs, seeds, bulbs, planting stock, soils, fertilizers, plant protection products, and technological solutions for horticulture. Around 80% of the exhibition space has already been booked by companies from Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya, China, Colombia, Poland, Russia, Ecuador, and other countries. The Netherlands' national pavilion is also taking shape.

Running concurrently for the second time, Grow Expo Astana—organized with the participation of the Kazakhstan Greenhouse Union—will showcase the latest plant-growing technologies from over 50 companies across 10 countries.

The business program will give special focus to urban greening and ecological infrastructure—a natural emphasis, as Astana is currently implementing large-scale "green" projects that are reshaping the capital's look.

Ecopark Projects: Three Scenarios for the City's Green Living

According to Astana's General Plan for Development through 2035, more than 42,000 hectares—over half the city's territory—will be allocated to green spaces.

This was the focus of a meeting in Astana on creating and developing ecoparks in the capital and surrounding region, attended by Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek, Akim of Akmola Region Marat Ahmetzhanov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Erlan Nysanbayev, and representatives of relevant government bodies.

This is a strategic direction that calls for international expertise, technologies, and partnerships.

Ecopark development is viewed as a multi-tiered system.

1. Everyday Recreation Ecoparks

These are green spaces within city limits, accessible to residents year-round. A flagship project is the development of Astana's Green Belt, featuring forest ecoparks, eco-trails, walking paths, and bike lanes.

A standout is the ecopark project at Small Taltykol Lake—one of the most talked-about ecological cases in recent years, blending natural restoration with a modern recreational environment.

2. Weekend Parks

These are being developed on the city outskirts and in suburbs—family leisure spaces with visitor centers, event venues, and tourist infrastructure. A prime example is the area between Lake Maybalyk and the regulator, which could become a new draw for residents.

3. Ecotourism Ecoparks

The third tier extends beyond the capital within a 60–90-minute radius. Here, Astana is partnering with Akmola Region to develop ecotourism routes and natural areas.

National parks like Burabay, Kokshtau, and Bueratau, along with the Korgalzhyn Reserve, are already drawing huge crowds. New ecoparks are planned in the Tselinograd and Arshaly districts—from eco-trails to multifunctional recreational clusters.

A Shared Eurasian Trend and Market of Opportunities

Notably, ecopark development isn't just a Kazakhstani agenda. Similar processes are underway in Russia, where cities are investing in green belts, urban forests, and recreational areas.

A common Eurasian greening market is emerging, with strong demand for:

  • planting stock
  • cultivation technologies
  • greenhouse solutions
  • landscape design
  • green space maintenance and operations

Astana and Akmola Region projects are already generating long-term demand for expertise and partnerships.

Invitation to Participate: A Platform for Collaboration

That's why Flora Expo Astana & Grow Expo Astana 2026 aren't just industry events—they're a practical gateway to the region's major infrastructure projects.

For Russian nurseries, landscape firms, technology manufacturers, planting stock suppliers, and urban environment solution providers, exhibiting offers a chance to:

  • enter the Kazakhstan market
  • meet clients and developers
  • set up direct supplies
  • find partners for ecopark projects
  • showcase greening and cultivation technologies

In today's climate, the event also serves as a neutral international platform for professional dialogue and strengthening business ties.

Astana is shaping a green future today. We invite Russian specialists to join these major projects by participating in Flora Expo Astana & Grow Expo Astana 2026 and collaborating on the region's ecological infrastructure.
