Floral Market Trends 2026 Import Substitution

28 April 2026

Russian Floral Market Size

According to industry analysts and specialized consulting firms, the Russian floral market reached an estimated RUB 402–450 billion in 2025, representing growth of approximately 9–15% compared to 2024.

Growth was primarily driven by the mid-range and premium segments. In value terms, the market expanded faster (+12%) than in volume (+9%), reflecting higher bouquet prices and a shift in demand toward more sophisticated floral arrangements.

Analysts expect this upward trend to continue in 2026, with projected growth of 10–15%. The total market size is forecast to reach approximately RUB 500 billion.

Share of Domestic Flowers in the Russian Market

Just a few years ago, up to 85% of flowers sold in Russia depended on imports from Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya, and the Netherlands.

By the end of 2025, however, approximately one in four flowers sold at retail was grown domestically.

Despite strong import competition and rising costs, Russian growers are not only maintaining their position but steadily increasing output and market share. They are becoming a key driver of import substitution, particularly in mass-market categories such as roses, chrysanthemums, tulips, and potted plants.

Over the past five years, domestic production of cut flowers has grown from approximately 347 million to 420–450 million stems. According to estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture and industry reports, production reached around 454.8 million stems in 2025.

The share of locally grown flowers in retail sales increased from 14% in 2019 to 22–25% in 2025. In the premium rose segment, domestic producers now account for approximately 25–35%.

Protected cultivation floriculture remains a complex and capital-intensive sector. It continues to develop активно and is far from saturation. With sustained investment in greenhouse projects, experts suggest that the share of domestically grown flowers could reach up to 50% by 2030. The fastest-growing segments include tulips, chrysanthemums, potted plants, and selected niche categories.

This trend toward the expansion of domestic floriculture is clearly reflected in the exhibition.

Global Flower Export Leaders at FlowersExpo

Despite increased tariffs and rising logistics costs, imports continue to dominate the Russian floral market. Approximately 75% of cut flowers sold in Russia are still sourced internationally.

Up to 80% of imported flowers come from Ecuador, Kenya, and Colombia—traditional exporting countries with favorable climates that allow year-round production at lower costs.

In recent years, Chinese producers have also been actively entering the Russian market, offering a wide ассортимент of cut flowers, potted plants, and preserved (stabilized) greenery.

As a result, the exhibition will showcase cut flowers, foliage, potted plants, and preserved products from companies representing some of the world’s leading flower-exporting countries, including Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya, and China.

Participants include both well-established suppliers and new market entrants such as: Tessa, Anni Roses, Cantiza, Impex The Elite Group, La Plazoleta, Black Tulip Group, P.J. Dave Flora, P.J. Dave Flowers, Large Can Gardening, China Wonder Orchids, Summer Flora, and others.

The exhibition floorplan is currently being finalized, and exhibitor applications are still being accepted. The participant list is updated regularly.
